POLICY CHANGES - Cell Phone & Attendance

2026 CELL PHONE POLICY #5516

Cell phones must remain secured in the school-issued locked pouches for the entire school day. Students are not permitted to access their phones at any time as described in this policy. Any student who attempts to open, tamper with, or damage a pouch will be held responsible for the cost of replacement and will face disciplinary action in accordance with Regulation 5600: Student Discipline/Code of Conduct.

Points of emphasis for Attendance Policy/Regulation #5200:

  1. Early dismissal not approved by the Principal will count as an unexcused absence.  Students arriving after 10:01 a.m. or leaving before 11:20 a.m. will be charged with a full day unexcused absence. Approved Early Departures include but are not limited to a family emergency, medical or dental appointment (note must be provided upon return), driver's test (must provide proof upon return), and court appearances (must provide proof upon return).
  2. If a student is late four times, it will equal one unexcused absence.
  3. Truancy charges will be filed with the local police department for students under the age of 17 who accumulate ten (10) unexcused absences.
